Frugal American Redditor hangs laundry instead of using a dryer, titillates the rest of the world: 'If Americans learnt about the clothesline we may solve climate change'

Americans aren't exactly known for being a nation of tree huggers. Between the not walking anywhere and the excessive meat consumption, the US plays a hefty part in the climate crisis. This can also be seen in the land of the free's dedication to the dryer whenever they do laundry. If only there was some kind of natural alternative that allowed our clothes, sheets, and towels to dry out without running up the electric bill.

This is what one American Redditor recently discovered, as they hung their clothes in their basement to dry. When his post on r/Frugal hit Twitter, many people from other parts of the world were amused at this revelation that "save[d] maybe a hundred or more a year in energy bills". Sometimes, all that rugged individualism leads people to amusing cultural differences that are as simple as using a few clothes pegs for once.
